One of Britain’s most-loved cathedral cities, Peterborough is now one of the country’s fastest growing cities - with a population of 183,631 in 2011. Historically, the town of Peterborough has been part of Northamptonshire and is 75 miles north of London on the River Nene, which flows into the North Sea.
Peterborough benefited from the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century, and continued its reputation as a manufacturing town well into the 1960’s. The city made it through World War II in better shape than some of its neighbours, and today people are still able to appreciate a variety of older British architectural styles that bombs destroyed elsewhere.
Peterborough has long been a town to embrace the revolutionary in regards to architecture and design. This begins with the oldest gem of the city, the cathedral. Built between 1118 and 1375, it is a marvel of Medieval architecture. Burghley House is another jewel. It is the lavish seat of the Marquess of Exeter, hereditary Lord Paramount of Peterborough.
Moving into modern times, the Peterborough Town Hall, built between 1930 and 1933, is a classically styled building with Romanesque columns. The most recent grand design is Peterborough shopping centre, which features futuristic elements from designers who captured the essence of the 1980s.
Cambridge Scaffolding is proud to serve the residents of Peterborough, having worked on many projects with local residents and business owners. As a result, the city holds a special place in the hearts of our team here at Cambridge Scaffolding.
The creation of scaffolding is an art form. Although the components for scaffolding are pretty simple, it takes a lot of careful work and checking to create a strong and durable structure for many people to work on and get a job done. There can be no missing parts nor shoddy workmanship.
The history of scaffolding has been one of constant change and innovation. The lightweight tube format which has become the standard in the industry was only invented in 1950 or so, and revolutionised scaffolding. A basic 24 pound unit means that a scaffold of any height can be assembled within hours by just a few labourers.
If you’re looking for an expert team with experience of assembling high quality scaffolding, then Cambridge Scaffolding is the ideal company for you. If you’d like to discuss a project with us, please get in touch and have a chat with one of our friendly team members today.
